Thanksgiving Leftovers Renewed

Thanksgiving Leftovers Renewed

The big Thanksgiving feast is over and not a crumb is left. Which happens roughly never. This is The Occasion for leftovers. Some of us will eat anything the next day, others draw the line at pizza, but the glorious goods from Thanksgiving dinner? Yes, please!

Stomachs are full right now, but at some point in the near future, they’ll start to rumble. Might be tonight, but definitely by tomorrow…and leftovers are the natural solution. A dinner redux is the classic way to use ’em, and a lunchtime turkey sam is a no-brainer, but we’ve got some new ideas for using up those extras in fun and exciting ways, from morning ’til night.

  • Start the day with a bite of moist breakfast bread made with your extra sweet potatoes (re-create the one featured on Steph’s Bite by Bite) and baked in a SNAPWARE® TOTAL SOLUTION™ 4-CUP SQUARE GLASS. You can also fold them into waffle or pancake batter for a delish dose of seasonal flavor.
  • Fill a frittata or omelet with savory stuffing and turkey for an easy, hearty breakfast.
  • Ready for a walk on the lighter side? Spoon your leftover cranberry sauce between layers of Greek yogurt for a creamy parfait. Top with your favorite granola or try crushing up some apple-cinnamon rice cakes for a low-fat (and gluten-free) crunch.Assemble individual servings in ready-to-go containers like the SNAPWARE® TOTAL SOLUTION™ PLASTIC 2 CUP SMALL TALL ROUND WITH LID, and take your breakfast with you!

  • Wanna talk turkey? Shred a few cups (a mix of dark and light meat is the most flavorful) and use it to top pizza or salads, stuff a quesadilla or toss with pasta.
  • Take your leftover mashed potatoes, gently form them into pancakes and lightly fry for a melt-in-your-mouth midday meal. You can make them even tastier by mixing in your favorite cheese, veggies or seasonings.

  • Cube leftover turkey and sweet potatoes, and sit down to a light and healthy soup with island flavor from Kalyn’s Kitchen. Using broth is fine, but a homemade turkey stock makes the flavors even richer.
  • Whip up our delicious version of the classic turkey and rice casserole in the oven-ready SNAPWARE® TOTAL SOLUTION™ PYREX® GLASS STORAGE 4-PC SET. Leftover casserole left over? Store in the same dish and cover with its TOTAL SOLUTION™ lid.

Wild rice and pecans give this one-dish wonder a hearty helping of crunch, and a generous handful of tangy cheddar ups the creaminess. Yes, it’s full-on comfort food and yes, you’ll need another nap.

  • MAKE THE SWITCH: Consider swapping leftover turkey for the chicken called for in recipes.
  • PLAY IT SAFE: Refrigerated cooked turkey should be used within 3 to 4 days; stuffing, potatoes and gravy within 1 to 2 days.
  • STORE SMARTER: Make it more convenient to use your leftovers by storing them in smaller and shallow containers like those in the SNAPWARE® 10-PC. GLASS STORAGE SET WITH TOTAL SOLUTION™ LIDS. Also, be sure to refrigerate within 2 hours of cooking!
