Boozy Basketball Cupcakes

1 box (15.25 oz) devil’s food cake mix with pudding
1 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup amaretto liqueur
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 container white ready-to-spread frosting
Orange sanding sugar
1 tube black decorating gel



  1. Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Generously spray 24 regular-size muffin cups with cooking spray.
  2. In large bowl, beat cake mix, water, oil, liqueur, eggs and vanilla with electric mixer on low speed until blended. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes. Divide batter evenly among muffin cups, filling about two-thirds full.
  3. Bake 20 to 22 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  4. Spread frosting on cupcakes; dip tops into sanding sugar to heavily coat and cover frosting. Use black gel to draw basketball shapes on top of sugar. Transport in a SNAPWARE® SNAP ’N STACK® COOKIE & CUPCAKE CARRIER.
