Filled with friends, family, food and fun, the Fourth of July is the perfect day to show your patriotic pride. From decorations to desserts, our flag’s colors lend the perfect scheme for this celebration. Add cheerful pops of color to your dessert with our fun and easy take on always-delicious chocolate-covered strawberries. We have easy tips on how to dress your berries in the proud hues of red, white and blue. No special equipment is required—just your creativity and patriotism!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Blue candy sprinkles or sanding sugar
  • 6 ounces white dipping/coating chocolate
  • Quart of fresh strawberries

HOW TO MAKE ’EM

  1. Line a Baker’s Secret cookie sheet with waxed or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Place sprinkles or sugar in a cup or small bowl. Melt white chocolate according to package directions.
  3. Holding strawberry by the stem, dip three-quarters of the berry into the melted chocolate; let chocolate drip back into bowl.
  4. Immediately dip into sprinkles or sugar.
  5. Place on lined cookie sheet; repeat with remaining strawberries, making sure they are well spaced on the cookie sheet, and reheating the chocolate if it gets too thick to coat.
  6. Refrigerate berries uncovered until set. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

TWEAKS AND TIPS

  • Prefer milk or dark chocolate rather than white chocolate? No problem! Follow the above instructions, substituting milk or dark chocolate for the white chocolate, and then dip the berries into a mix of red, white and blue candy sprinkles.
  • Don’t have sprinkles or colored sanding sugar at home? You can easily make colored sugar: Place granulated sugar in a small container with a lid or small resealable plastic bag; add a drop or two of food color, then seal and shake. Add additional food color until desired color is reached.
  • If you can’t find dipping/coating chocolate at your store, melt chocolate chips (white vanilla, milk or dark chocolate) in a microwave on 50% power for 1 minute; stir, then heat in 30-second intervals just until chips are softened and can be stirred until smooth. Don’t overheat.
